杜甫（712年—770年），字子美，自号少陵野老，唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，与李白合称“李杜”。原籍湖北襄阳，后徙河南巩县。

DU Fu (712-770), Zimei by courtesy name and Shaoling’s Old & Alone Master of None by literary name, born in Xiangyang, Hubei Province. Later he moved to Gongxian County, Henan Province. Du, a great realistic poet in the Tang dynasty, and Li Bai were known as “Li-Du”. (马宝燕译)

Outside Silk Town, where cypresses there’re a lot.

Half hiding the stairs, green grass shows spring hues;

Orioles twixt leaves give sweet notes for naught.

Thrice called on, urged much, he’d plans for the land;

For two reigns, he served till declining years.

He marched, but ere success he himself died;

It makes all heroes fill their clothes with tears.
